Caring for someone with dementia can be fulfilling. It can also be stressful, and emotionally complicated. How can folks in a caring role best manage complicated emotions for their own wellness and for healthy relationships? Evan Plys, Ph.D., will discuss this and more during “Taking Care, While Caretaking: Emotional Health for Families and Friends.” This presentation will cover:
* The importance of dealing with emotional stress as a care partner.
* Practical, everyday strategies for managing emotional stressors related to the caregiving role.
* Opportunities to participate in programs designed to minimize emotional stress with care partners of persons living with dementia.
Evan Plys is a Clinical Geropsychologist at the Center for Health Outcomes and Interdisciplinary Research at Mass General Hospital.
